Here at Sacred Heart, we are keen to grow leaders of the future and want to involve the children in our decision making as much as possible – it is their school after all! We cannot wait to implement our pupil leadership structure again. During the next two weeks we will inaugurate our Y5 GIFT team, who support the development of the Catholic life of our school. Next Tuesday, we vote for our House Captain and Vice- Captains, so any Year 6’s, wishing to apply for this position need to start thinking about why they are the right person for the job! This year, we will also appoint a Vice-Captain from Year 2 so that we grow our younger pupil leaders too!
Over the next few weeks, we are also looking to recruit our next Head Boy, Head Girl and school council. Those who wish to be considered for Head Boy and Girl will write a manifesto and deliver this to the children within school. We will then host a school voting week where each child will vote for who they wish to be elected as Head Boy and Head Girl and represent our school and vocalise the children’s thoughts. To apply for the school council, children should film a short video of themselves and email it into school (the Year 6 teachers will share more details about this).
This is a very exciting time for us as we hope that these initiatives will help develop confidence and independence within the children who apply and also give a voice to the rest of the children at school, so that we can make changes for the better.
