National Anti-bullying week

This week, we have been reflecting on the theme of anti-bullying. During our assemblies and lessons, we have shared with the children, issues around bullying and how to deal with this.

• TELL, TELL, TELL
• If you know someone is being bullied, you can do something about it – Tell someone – you can make a difference!
• Keep a note or diary of what is happening
• Ask your parents to talk to someone at the school – your class teacher can help.
• Talk over what to do with a friend, a teacher, your mum or dad, or someone you trust Remember, all our teaching staff will listen carefully when a child tells them about being bullied. You should tell an adult if you are being bullied and to ask for their help. You can talk with them about what you would like to happen and how the situation can be resolved. Remember – if you are worried about anything, the best thing to do is REACH OUT and talk to someone!

Many young people have a good idea of what bullying is. Bullying happens when someone hurts or scares another person on purpose and the person being bullied has a hard time defending himself or herself. Usually, bullying happens over and over. We have told the children it is not a one off incident – it is Several Times On Purpose and we want it to STOP!

· Punching, shoving, and other acts that hurt people physically

· Spreading bad rumours about people

· Keeping certain people out of a “group”

· Teasing people in a mean way

· Getting certain people to “gang up” on others

· Sending unkind messages or pictures on social media or messaging apps
